Movies, Music & More in Mark's Newsletter!
Hello Everyone,
As is often the case in the industry, it's either "Feast or Famine." 5 projects that I worked on during 2025 and 2026 are all coming to market at almost the exact same time.   Without further ado, let's dive right in!
"STUFFED" - BY FAR THE STRANGEST MOVIE MUSICAL THAT  I'VE EVER WORKED ON

Quite by chance, I was asked to provide vocals for "Stuffed" for quite a few of the songs on the new Jodie Comer/Harry Melling "Taxidermy Musical" that opened at the 2026 Toronto International film festival.  I sent a demo tape of my singing to composer Joss Holden-Rea, and before I knew it, I landed in a studio in South London recording various characters' singing voices for this very, VERY unusual project.   Never in a million years could I have guessed that Jodie Comer would be playing the lead in this film, that it would be opening at TIFF and that (according to the composer) my vocals would be featured in the soundtrack.      I'm thrilled for Joss, director Theo Rhys, and of course the main cast.  I can't wait to see the film when it opens in the UK, and (quite selfishly) I'm very curious about the soundtrack!!
"SPEECH" - THE LITTLE MOVIE THAT COULD
Of all the 9 projects I have filmed over the last 20 months, I've waited the longest on "Speech."  This movie finished filming in January 2025.  It's a body horror short with a very clever script and over the last few months, it has been making the rounds of international film festivals.  Now, "Speech" will finally have its UK Premiere on October 24th at the Bath Film Festival before making its way to London.  I play a burned-out lounge singer (in drag) in this one, and get to sing the lovely song "Be Anything." I've never seen this film and I can't wait to see what Nathan Leigh Horrocks, our wonderful director has done with the movie.
  • Cast: The short stars Alastair Coughlan as the groom, alongside Emily Blackman, Henry Mettle, and Taryn Kay and Mark Janicello.

Last September, I returned to my hometown of NYC to film "The Age of Love."   It was my first movie role in New York in 35 years, and I play the brash NYPD Detective Picchione who's investigating the alleged kidnapping of the leading actress played by Elizabeth Wood.

"The Age of Love" is now being released for a limited theatrical run before moving to streaming in early 2027.  This is a real period piece about the 1990s Kid Club Scene, filmed in Black and White.  As with almost all the other projects in this Newsletter, I've not seen the film yet, and I am soooo curious how it turned out.

I play a Simon Cowell-type record producer "Sam" in the forthcoming "Christmas In Wales" which will be released in late October on the Hallmark Channel in the US, and on ITV in the UK.  This was the first movie I worked on in 2026 and in comparison to everything else I've written about, "Christmas in Wales" had a relatively quick turnaround time.  I really enjoyed working with director Ryan Dewar and our leading lady/producer, Brooke Burfitt.  I can't wait to see this charming, heartwarming story!  It's a lot of fun with some great music.
NEW MUSIC
A MILLION TINY PIECES
Yesterday, September 16th, we released the music video for my latest single "A Million Tiny Pieces." This song chronicles the breakup of the longest relationship of my life and its effect on me.  Because the song was so personal, and so painful, I decided not to sing it on camera, but rather to do an Anime-style music video.  The song's been complete since April, but the animation took quite some doing.   The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive for the song, and we are getting radio play all over the world.  Watch the video at the link below.
I WRITE A COLUMN FOR CREATIVE BUSINESS NEWS
Over the last few months, I have become a regular contributor to Creative Business News where I write a column about the state of the Entertainment Industry and give advice to up-and-coming performers.  It's another creative outlet that I've really been enjoying.  You can read some of my columns HERE.
UPDATED SHOWREELS

I've filmed a great deal this year. As new footage comes in, I've updated both my acting and my commercial showreels.  Here are links to my new, updated reels:
